My Ship: Cricket

For most people this would be considered as a cursory glance ... but for me with my mind he looks like he is totally checking her out - he has finally realised HOW GORGEOUS a body his female companion has!  We also know, from this story, that Nyssa has developed a crush on the Doctor between Timeflight and Arc of Infinity ... we do not know how long they were on their own for, and with ALL that space in the TARDIS ... you can't tell me that something was going on ... 

I call this ship ... Cricket by the way!

 

This is an image I made when I started to ship them.  Can you understand why? I know I made him too red in this picture so I will redo this sometime ... There is also too much green around her hair from the background.

I love her Mawdryn Undead clothes as they are sophisticated, spacy, sexy, and hot! I may be straight but she is my girl crush.  Also she is a nurse, thus would look after and care for me.  AND the added bonus ... her daddy looks like Anthony Ainley ...

Nyssa and the Doctor are one of the few classic companion ships I have.  The other one is Four with Romana 2 and Three with Jo Grant.  Why I think Nyssa and the Doctor had feelings for each other are the way they behaved around each other.  One could argue he was enjoying his time spent alone with Nyssa then Tegan said she was coming with them as she had lost her job ... well, you know what they say ... two's company and all that! :)

This is another reason why I ship them: Before now I do not think the Doctor kissed ANY of his companions when saying goodbye, Nyssa was the first Companion to plant a tender kiss on his cheek.  Ace may have done eventually but I doubt neither Mel or Peri would have kissed the Sixth or Seventh Doctor's.

When Tegan said goodbye they shook hands but not hugged and kissed.  The way the Doctor is holding her hand proves to me that he was starting to have more than a friendly feeling towards her.

IN ARC she behaved like a wife would with the Doctor: After he managed to fix something she then gave up an entire list of other things for him to fix - it was very domesticated and the way she would not let the Doctor die and actually grieved for his supposed death later on in the story - later being comforted by Damon, a young best friend of the Doctors (whom Nyssa SHOULD probably have ended up with - the way that Leela married a Timelord!) 

Just above is a PIZAP manipulation of pictures that looks like Damon and Nyssa are kissing ... I added in the RANI just for fun and, well, the fifth Doctor cause I had to :) I just felt that Nyssa SHOULD have had a love interest - after all she had gone through.  Wicked stepmother, loving but essentially too kind a father who was killed by a tyrant and her planet destroyed, AND losing her best friend Adric in death - and then she sacrifices her entire life to a Hospital Ship surrounded by death and disease - not the fairy tale ending the Last Maiden of Traken I expected.  I want Nyssa so much to have found happiness.  I know Big Finish have married her off - and I have yet to listen to Cradle of the Snake.

Of course you could go the darker more gothic route with the shipping ... 

Some people may think this is incest but I argue that whatever remains of her father is long gone and the Master is more Timelord than Traken - I have started a What If ... that the Master takes Nyssa thus upsetting the entire balance of the Universe, and all of Eighties Who is completely re-written.  Though he may not end up with Nyssa romantically in this series I may explore it in another medium.  As Inferno said: So many possible choices ... 

I see two beautiful people together and I need them to be together for some reason ... it is the way I have always been.  I was one of the few that wanted Sarah to 'forget about the baby' and end up with Jareth in Labyrinth when I was a child.  So I was always a dark romantic!  Is it any wonder that I start shipping my favourite TV villain with my ultimate favourites of Good Girls.  Anthony Ainley is one of the most beautiful men I have ever clapped eyes on!  Sarah Sutton the most loveliest of women - her soft, ladylike quality really makes me feel warm inside.  Every time I look at her I want to hug her and her sweet honeyed voice drips with visions of homemade cakes and tea!

Oh, another reason why I ship Nyssa with the Doctor ... 

LOOK how tenderly he is holding her here - I know this is from Black Orchid which I have yet to see but he is clearly VERY relieved that he saved her from something! 

So, yes, The Fifth Doctor and Nyssa: One of my OTPS, most probably my favourite OTP!

To me, better than any cricket match!  And I like Cricket!
